2 just has sloppy writing. In many ways it was a combination of Bioware having dumb ambitions for the sequel while pairing those with a retardedly short timeline for release. It was the moment the internal push to make Dragon Age "stand out and hip" came from which led to the C-grade franchise we have now. The old devs were mostly gone by now so the substantial influences on DA (primarily dark fantasy novels from 1980-2000s) were pushed out in favor of the "renaissance" in fantasy started by Harry Potter that couped the whole genre into its current iteration.
The current iteration I'm talking about is shit like pic related and other LGBTQ dogshit that pushed out the old fantasy reader base with one dominated so heavily by women that Harlequin novels have been folded into the wider spectrum identified as "fantasy".
TLDR: DA2 is OG woke as fuck and was the start of this long train wreck all of you keep buying tickets for.
