It's the best thing with collectibles but has suffered ever since the quarterly forms became the go-to. Which is weird since I think that you can easily do both. Combos were perfect for the idea of having upgrade forms even with the base forms being a thing, with how immensely more powerful they were compared to subspecies forms. Eiji's "quarterly upgrade" was his body getting more used to Combos which let him bring them out more readily, on top of simply collecting more medals.
