Good, VIZ put a clear note about it. Also, here's Furinkan's note: "The bamboo chute with noodles that Ayame uses is a "nagashi somen" (流しソーメン). Traditionally it would be noodles that are floated down split open bamboo chutes for people to pull out with chopsticks and enjoy. In modern times these mechanical waterslide like devices are meant to replicate the feeling on a smaller, indoor scale."

This seems like such a pain. I can't imagine it being worth it, but I'll try it if I ever get the chance.
