The glow of the character is probably from setting their material to emissive. The blurry glowy part is bloom. The sparkles are a simple particle effect. A yellow light is spawned to also brighten up everything in the area.
Pic related is the most interesting shading I noticed in the demo. The lighting ramp is a bit unusual if it's a real light, but if it's not, you could fake this with an emission map.
