Western analysts underestimated how stimulating war economies are and how much Russia had been preparing for a total sanction regime. As always, too little too late, if Russia had been hit with the same type of sanctions in 2014 they probably would´ve been done for. The real blow to the Russian economy will be dealt when the war is over. Haven´t really seen this mentioned much but when the Russian Armed Forces ends its jobs program for poor people from the rural regions consumer spending will drop off a cliff. In proportion the frontline grunts are earning wages that would only be matched by getting paid like 300k per annum in the USA. Plus the pensions and the benefits for war widows, their families etc.
