Look at these two statues, both very similiar but in important ways completely opposite.
The Arno Breker statue is tense, angry, it wants to frighten you, rile you up, it absolutely screams "I'm strong! I'll prove it to you!!" It is the product of a culture that needs to show others that it is strong, like a cat raising its spine to appear larger, not because it is truly strong, but because it is afraid.
The Leochares stature on the other hand is relaxed, not because it is complacent, but because it is so powerful that it does not even need to prove its strength, and that alone conveys far more strength than any desperate flexing of muscles.
It is a product of a culture that does not even think of its enemies, because its enemies are like meaningless ants to it. It is a higher state, truly civilised.
