I get how the approach to that scene is dumb, but it's just an indication of a bigger problem with the movie in general, which was trying to make a point of how terribly fucking dangerous the situation is supposed to be (when in the book it's constantly underlined how it's all just a sporting event and nobody is in true danger, which sets up things actually turning ugly in the end with the dumb convoluted portkey overarching plan)
