Chrono Trigger is a great game but isn't like Deltarune at all besides a few relatively small overlap
Both games have
>non random combat encounters
>Standout soundtracks with good use of leitmotif (Deltarunes is bigger largely because Toby has had more time to work on it than CT's composer)
>well paced and well scaled boss fights
>the player is in game a different entity than the protaganist, though Deltarune explores this much more thoroughly whereas Chrono Trigger brings it up in passing a few times at best
>seemingly random and largely innocuous biblical references

Chrono Trigger has that Deltarune really doesn't
>bigger focus on combat
>very minimalist characterization even for it's main character
>true blank slate protaganist
>actual time travel

Deltarune has that Chrono Trigger doesn't
>more characterization
>like a fuckton more to the point that we can actually have some influence over who we flirt with
>protaganist kinda looks like a blank slate but very much isn't upon any closer examination
>furries
>a lot more humor and pop culture references
>heavy themes of escapism that borders on the meta

Chrono Trigger is great and you should play it but it and Deltarune are different enough beasts that one shouldn't ruin the other for you
