I guess that's a decent point. Although I think that prioritizes short term profitability over long term profitability, but that's the norm in business all across the world right now. Making a high quality adaptation of a world renown classic like Dragon Ball or Fist of the North Star would be a major credit to any animation studio and cement them as a major player in the industry in the minds of viewers around the world who would go out of their way to watch their work any time they announced something new. Whereas you'd have to make like half a dozen high quality adaptations of unknown manga for half the reputational benefit. But I get what you mean, Dragon Ball will print money no matter what, Fist of the North Star probably will too as long as it's not Berserk tier bad CG, whereas with something lesser known the only chance of making a profit is to actually make it look good.
