It's not just Berserk that caused this.
They frequently keep fucking up CG.
They're just not good at it.
None of them.
Even if they can nail down the models (which HnK does, to be fair), they then proceed to fuck it up by animating it like a high school CAD course and making it 15fps.
Fucking Beast Wars had primitive CG polygons and even it was animated better than CG anime nowadays.

The only area where there's a lack of 2d animators is mecha designs. Elsewhere you see CG anime because... there are entire studios devoted to 3d, so obviously they're trying to get work. In Japan, the reaction to 3d anime doesn't seem nearly as bad as in the West either, so they probably haven't realized yet how much it hurts the international prospects of any project.

Making a high quality adaptation of a world renown classic like Dragon Ball or Fist of the North Star would be a major credit to any animation studio and cement them as a major player in the industry in the minds of viewers around the world who would go out of their way to watch their work any time they announced something new. I do wish more people knew about the process of making anime. At the very least they should know the most basic concepts. Because the popularity of such posts is what makes me think that a lot of people do believe such sentiments, and aren't just doing it in jest.
I disagree with the notion that this a fact or a pattern. I think it's just people feeding into their bias by looking into select examples rather than looking into the total of anime produced. It's just the luck of the business.

Hokuto no Ken as far as I'm aware is a series that could get a new anime to more closely follow its manga, which I think is worth doing even if I don't care about HnK. Berserk has had several adaptations already though and I don't think studios should be wasting time on more just because they can't get it right.
