They're just too weird for a normie- and kid-friendly cartoon. Compare and contrast Morrison's introductory arc with the JL three-part pilot. Both are about aliens subverting and then invading Earth, but the JL cartoon dumbed it down to a typical War of the Worlds-imitation.
