The characters I've come up with, like almost everything else I draw, exist within the context of my wider world building project and I typically develop ideas and lore for them etc as I go trough the designing process. Some start out as just random generic ideas or designs for what a member of a particular faction might look like and then spin out from there while others have more specific goals I have for them.

I have an autistic oc donut steel setting I've been building for like a decade now but I fundamentally struggle with coming up with actual characters or stories to tell within the setting itself. I've just detailed various bits of lore and tech within the setting and it's factions because rts games poisoned my brain when I was a wee lad.
Realistically though, the only way I figure I would ever get any use for this setting beyond just expanding it to my autistic enjoyment is if I made some sort of webcomic out of it, and I have some vague ideas for what to do, mostly revolving around exploring the setting from the point of view of a bunch of rather low level mercenaries that operate within the setting (picture related). However I don't really know how to start. I have never really done any actual stories, just random drawings & infographics for my setting and writing is generally not something I have any confidence in.

Any advice?
