What is with Damascus being used on everything these days? Is it honestly better? I feel like a commemorative HK knife should be done with, idk, a traditional Solingen carbon steel or something interesting?
Forge de Laguiole forges their own proprietary T12 and T14 artisan steels in-house. The steel was designed by a French steel company specifically for their forging techniques. Why can't they do something like that in Germany? That would be awesome, even if they're using a modern, bespoke steel, as long as it has some cultural connection to Germany.
