How do you play Demon's Souls and come out thinking the outdated gameplay, and enemy AI are its strength? Dark Souls is a complete improvement upon the game mechanics. When DeS players said they were disappointed by DaS, they were talking about the atmosphere, and visual storytelling, not the improved gameplay with weight behind every swing and move. The remake shouldn't had existed, it should had simply been ported to next gen consoles/PC in 4K resolution, but if they were going to insist on a remake, they should had taken the Capcom approach and fully reconsider the gameplay approach and learn from all the newer entries, from the Dark Souls trilogy and Bloodborne.
I used to make fun of a particular /v/ user. He is a Shadow of the Colossus fan who every time someone makes a SotC thread, he will enter the thread and show infographics on why Bluepoint ruined the remaster and remake, and how you should emulate the game. He would point to all things the remake fucked up, and how they didn't had the necessary sensibly to understand the art of Fumito Ueda art. The thing is he was right, and I couldn't understand him until some no-talent faggots from Texas came and fucked up my favorite video game, and you will not understand why the remake was bad until they do the same thing to your favorite game.
