Grease are for high load applications where higher viscosity is needed.

Which IS NOT 90% of gun parts.

The only part where there is an argument for it is on springs to prevent metal on metal contact at full compression.

High-speed, low load, easily relubricated: Oil
Low-speed, high load, rarely relubricated: Grease
