The latter has been physically and, to a degree, mentally a 14 year old for most of his adult life
He doesn't strike me as a kiddy diddler, so eventually he'd stop seeing her as a potential mate and more like a niece or little sister, and I doubt that perception would be broken even if she suddenly aged herself up
The scene where he's dressed up as her doll and comforts a young Asuka also helps cement their relationship as more found family and less romantic in my mind
