Orin incorrectly assesses one of his subjects to be a 'Swiss' hand model, but we know that it's Luria. Now there's a lot going on with Orin, obviously, so this could be some Oedipal thing where he's seeing an attribute of his mother on Luria, and that could be one way of reading this. Luria being a mere lookalike however just doesn't make 100% sense to me. It could be that they're twins. Or you could ask yourself where Avril was on YDAU Nov 11 and who she's on the phone with. Is she one of the three spies? It's pretty clear Thierry is one of the three spies. The other likely candidates are Avril and John Wayne, with a Saskatoon kid who draws rifles in a single mention in the novel being another potential spy, which could free up either Avril or John. Additionally, when it comes to spies, we need to constantly wonder if the amount of their allegiances is even- or odd-numbered. There is a lot to think about when DFW says her hands are younger than they appear.
