To finish my point, there is a story about Abe, the character designer for Lain and Hahibane Renmei. He got hired to draw character sheets and concept art for Lain but he never done such a job before, so he just made a bunch of moody drawings and presented it to the producers, a bunch of the staff got confused by one producer just laughed and said "keep making more"
