When I was a kid I'd take it from pop-media: comics, anime, cartoons, video games, just whatever I thought was "too cool I couldn't resist". Warcraft used to be a massive influence for me growing up. I still borrow stuff from pop-media, but I've gotten better at understanding what exactly I like about "thing", extrapolating the themes & essence of that thing, or looking up the original inspiration that creator used, and then just using that - instead of mindlessly aping other media sources.
As an adult I tend to borrow more from actual 'real life lore' because I *read now (I hated reading as a kid, but love it as an adult, RIP): agricultural history, religious studies & history, economics, paleontology, are all some of my particular favorites, all great stuff. I'm also on the same page as this Anon: >>95627281 there's an alarming amount of crossover with folklore, ecology, and fetish material.
*I would also desperately suggest Anons interested in creating content to READ: Google has become a cache dump for Reddit and Quora, and is fucking dog shit. READ. Books have secret knowledge and information - everyone you know on Youtube is just paraphrasing Wikipedia or pop-his/sci. Read. I beg of you.
