unironically I would be happiest at work if every time something (i'm responsible for) broke due to user error/wear&tear, I had carte blanche to say

>Write it off right now
>add 35$ to my digikey account
>Let me at least try to fix it and have the civilian IT squirels re-accredit it for TEMPEST or whatever when I do all I can do
>if it works again now we're at surplus, if it doesn't, oh well, wait 2 fiscal years to get it replaced it's not like anyone was using this thing for anything productive anyway
