Seconding the discard. Turn 2 hymn or a mid-game mind twist is usually enough to put someone out of running. The winner of most edh games is whoever interacts/is interacted with the least, so if you deck is packed with interaction you basically just get to decide who doesn't win.
Having a bunch of these types of cards also acts as a nuclear deterrent. Once they know they'll get mind-twisted or have all their shit killed in retaliation other players will leave you alone, but if they save you for last and make the game a 1v1, suddenly your deck full of bad single targeted hate crushes the average edh deck.
