This is a bit of an esoteric line of questioning, but do you guys randomize the seating arrangement with your pod between play sessions? I always play with the same three friends, and we noticed that since we always sat and the same exact positions, it ended up causing some weird psychological-gameplay stuff like for example how it feels a lot better to be sitting diagonally from the dedicated control player than it does to be sitting next to him, since it means you'll never be the first person in line when they pass the turn and have all their mana open

Not worth it. I got mine for $75 dollarydoos which was nearly 50% off the base price of $130 dollarydoos. I got Lyse Hext as one of them (which I needed for Noyan-Dar), but the other was the uncommon mono red Barret. If both cards were of rare rarity or higher I’d say go for it, but otherwise it isn’t really worth it. I’m also biased because I got badly dicked with my pack pulls.

Not gonna lie I'm kind of a noob so I'm not quite sure what a hate bear is.

I still use like a dozen non-creatures (a couple of graveyard spells, some artifacts). The rest is just other creatures I like (combat thresher <3), some creatures that double as removal or other things (skyclave apparition, that land finding farmer), and then some angels for flying.

Pic related is actually the best card of all time. I swear to god everyone in this thread please try it out. Good target for buffs, good revival target, a draw, good to exile then return. I would use this as my commander if I could.

My LGS has a consensus about proxies being fine. We teach kiddies how to play and give them proxy decks so they stay off the streets.

Since half of the people ITT are just arguing about proxies, I'll throw my hat into the ring and say that I've got three 100% proxy decks, and the reasons I have them are because:
1) I don't feel like ordering a bunch of cards from a multitude of different places
2) I don't feel like paying that much money for singles of cards that came out before I even started playing the game, like Mindcrank
3) I wanted the cards to use sexy anime art because it makes my friends laugh and I enjoy adult content in my media

He might already want crucible because he's insane with fetch lands that you'll even want the shitty ones, and you might as well play Stripmine, Wasteland, Tec Edge, and Demo Field for sure. Maybe dust bowl and volatile fault. It doesn't really cost anything since it's just in the manabase and copying one after ramping off a fetch is probably enough to cripple someone out of the game. Do one after really ramping and you can hit the whole table.
There are probably a bunch of ability tutors that are effectively one-card combos with gogo if you want to be lame. Almost certainly something 5 cmc tezzeret can get. Muddle the mixture gets scepter/reversal/monument/something to spend it on.

95% of the decks you will see will be brackets 2-4
1 is joke decks, like "every card has art of people sitting in a chair", its intended to be silly and unlikely to win
5 is CECH which is much more competitive and might as well be a different game entirely. Those decks can cost tens of thousands and it doesn't play like regular commander. The games can last double digit hours just arguing rules interactions, no joke.

Your precons will be just fine for playing against other people with bracket 2 decks and probably many bracket 3 decks. There is no need to rush into things, just find a commander you like and build them, we can always offer advice here.

Seconding the discard. Turn 2 hymn or a mid-game mind twist is usually enough to put someone out of running. The winner of most edh games is whoever interacts/is interacted with the least, so if you deck is packed with interaction you basically just get to decide who doesn't win.
Having a bunch of these types of cards also acts as a nuclear deterrent. Once they know they'll get mind-twisted or have all their shit killed in retaliation other players will leave you alone, but if they save you for last and make the game a 1v1, suddenly your deck full of bad single targeted hate crushes the average edh deck.

Obviously "gocha" cards are going to be really powerful in bracket two, since fogging a big combat or casting something like Galadriel's Dismissal or Inkshield can just win you the game. Just like how they've been saying that it's the best selling set of all time, but WPN stores are saying they didn't get allocated as much product as they usually get. Weird isn't it? Sold so well but not in WPN stores? Where did it go?
The answer is the didn't print it. And they're not going to print it again for a couple months, by which time rabid UBpiggies like yourself will pay anything for it.

If it really was the best selling set of all time, then by end of year there will be hundreds of copies of any card you could want on market sitres.

They won't because WotC is deliberately delaying printing. I don't know the specifics but some anon talked about WotC previously having to share printer time with Pokemon but now Pokemon has its own printer so there's no excuse for why they can't print more for a couple months.
The only reason is that they know the secondary market is actually how their bread gets buttered. If people didn't think cards were worth hundreds of dollars, people would spend less cracking packs to chase them.

Agreed. My one regret is that there are no 'fight' effects I can find in Black. A Zenos deck that is about making other creatures fight him 1v1 would be perfect.
