Getting extremes doing mentors roulettes really shows how much fight design has changed. I mentored every extreme up to the end of Stormblood and you could mostly just pull and give some explanations.
But then you get Titania and the first thing you do is place markers and make people take assigned spots, and at least those are water puddles so it's not too convoluted. Maybe someone misses their puddle but it's manageable.
But then you get Hades, how the fuck do you Mentor blind sprouts through fucking Hades extreme?

I have been playing this game for about 5 years now, and I realized something yesterday: I never figured out pvp. Its something I mostly just do for daily roulettes as opposed to tryharding, but its still clear to me in retrospect that there is some key, fundamental mechanic of pvp that has eluded me.
And I say this because in 5 years of playing, I don't think I've ever won a 1v1 once. Not ever, even by accident. Even with hitting my buttons in the order in which tooltips for my job tell me should produce big damage, and spamming heals when I get hurt, and using guard to block damage and status effects, I regularly fail to get the other player down to below half health and then I die. As far as I am aware I'm doing everything that can be done, but this is so extremely consistent in its outcome that there has to be something I am missing. Which is weird, because you'd think that I would at least occasionally run into a player who is making whatever mistake I am making as well, there have to be SOME noobs in the game, and yet I've never won a fight.
Bit of a weird question: whats the best strategy or tech in mono black for fucking over one player *in particular*? I want to make a deck that singles out an opponent and just nukes them as hard as possible, even if it leaves me open to reprisals from other players.
I'm thinking stuff like Curse of the Cabal, or maybe curses.
