Arcadion is the most fun I've had in 8 man content probably ever, and at this point you can just vaguely point at Final Fantasy XI and I'll at least be paying attention to you so as far as I'm concerned DT is just fine beyond the bad MSQ. It kinda is, otherwise shit like the passport addon wasn't that wide spread. NA scene has the added benefit of needing to know several strategies because XXXDarkLurkersXXX guid is better than C0ckm0ngl0rs strats, at least according to the current party lead. High end pick up groups are just god awful and not everyone wants to dedicate 3-4 days per week raiding. Granted that isn't just an XIV issue and high end raiding has every right to exist. But the current track record of Savage, Ultimates, Chaotic and FT are just too slanted towards that.

Like this shit exists because people try to prog hop and use people not to filter casuals.
Ultimately you can make your own PF and decide the rules which is usually always the best course of action.

This is just how content works when the content is difficult this is true for any game. You can find people that go at your pace.
Nobody even says anything and the group will disband most of the time in pugs which is probably worse than anything because GMs will defend casuals feelings over someone trying to give them actually good advice.

Not him and I can only call it an improvement in something really bad becoming average but throughout EW bosses were way too formulaic. They had a fairly rigid flowchart of what they would do, you get your vuln bad boy stamp if you fucked up a mechanic, but fortunately because it was such a flowchart you simply needed to get your choreography down perfect. Now bosses will have a small level of randomness in their moves. Before if they cleaved left, you can be sure they were going to cleave right before doing another left because that's "fair". Several DT bosses have said fuck you, pay attention or I'll go left twice if I feel like it before doing a single back and forth. It's a minor improvement, but I'll take it. I remember back in 1.18 doing Ifrit Ex and because it was aping FFXI combat ideas sometimes he'd do Eruption like 4 times in a row and it was really annoying to play melee DPS for that fight. Then the next fight he does a bunch of tankbusters instead and the DPS get to really open up on the boss. Give me a modicum of randomness so I'm not doing the same dance forever.

It’s shocking how consistently bad Dawntrails story is.

Like usually, in other bad stories, the quality is all over the place because they’re trying really hard to make something good, but they lack the skill.
So you have plot beats that range from 3/10 to 9/10 moments that last 5 seconds right before dropping right back down.

In Tural, those highs would be considered the boss fights, but narratively? The whole thing is flatlined. It’s a 5/10 the whoooole way through.

It’s honestly impressive.

Dawntrail's concepts are 10/10, but the execution has just clawed it's way from awful to alright in 7.2.

I did the full 2k mentor grind roughly during the WoW player influx and I got every ARR-ShB extreme except SoS and Memoria Misera at least once. Of course, ARR and HW were way more common than SB and ShB but they did pop here and there.
I also had join duty in progress, that probably helped. I liked trying to clear every extreme that popped even if it's really time-inefficient and wasn't even a guaranteed clear, I encouraged sprouts to stay and wait for refills lol.
