It's probably the art style. I thought the same thing about special week and I think it's because the faces and facial features in-game are much more rounded. Also, the heads are bigger and bodies are less matured. Overall the in-game characters look more moe-fied to me.
They have an extra innocent look which can detract from their sex appeal (depending on the character) in my opinion
