Today I realized that the overarching theme of TADC is Gender. Yep.
It's about the pros and cons of feminine inherent passivity/agreeableness, vs inherent masculine assertiveness/combativeness.
The former is soft and nice, but often lets problems grow and persist. It soaks into and becomes one with the problem.
The latter is effective at producing results, but often destroys things in it's path like a stampeding horse, deaf to those around it.
Jax doing anything he can for action, a reaction, a change from whatever dull moment is happening. Caine who's obsessed with keeping control over them and his adventures, and destroys any situation that strays too far from his will.
Kinger, who if we are to take as being alluded to with Mildenhall, who chased a monster until a tragic end - probably approached his work with a white whale mentality, and possibly ended up being one who had such an active force on reality that he managed to create this insane game that they're all stuck in.
But he probably created it with the help or influence of his wife. And it was probably a great game at first, being made with love.
And this is why Zooble is a character that serves to be a bridge between the genders - takes no shit and actively fights back, but empathetic/open to other's feelings and especially protective of the girls.
