I hate that I want to give a genuine response but it's probably just gonna boil down to "Old stuff had better vibes" I think back to all the old random black library paperbacks and short stories, or comics, or games and feel like GW was just looser with the IP then they are nowadays. But I wasn't into it all back then so I can't say if back in like the 2000's WHF or 40k players were like "Really GW, ANOTHER GOTREK AND FELIX BOOK" or some shit or "Shadow of the Horned rat, this shit is garbage"
