The prestigious Lord Ushoran himself! It has become known across the kingdoms that Ushoran has taken a more proactive stance, no longer does he encourage the defending of the realms nor host feeding frenzies across the battlefield, but instead he does his best to manage his kingdom's delusions. Fear not, he is still mostly the ushoran you love and know, with the exact same ability to inspire chaos in the enemy ranks through his sorceries, as well as dull his enemies agility when he enters the fray.

That saddens me to hear, perhaps the Cardinal can attend to your confession? He has many great new sermons, including an oration that inspires nobles to fortify the impact of their hits causing more damage, and when his sermon reaches it's peak, it can reinvigorate nobles to attack again! Hearkens back to the days of old when many feeding frenzies happened at the flick of a command from a Noble.

plastic kits require(d?) the model to be sculpted in a 3up version before making the moulds

I have long held the suspicion that the aracnarok was produced solely because someone at the studio fell in love with the 3up version of the plastic spider riders, so much so one such upscaled spider was converted into a custom unit, and fielded in a battle report not too far ahead of the reveal of the arcanarok kit

What faggot 40k rapefugees in AoS don't understand is that these scenarios are designed to play twice. One person plays as the path breaker, then you switch. The issue is that, at its heart, AoS is corpo designed souless slop.
The writers, rule guys, designers, they have all done a lot to make it LESS of that, there have even been patches of genuine brilliance (FEC fluff, some truly exceptional models). But at its core, AoS was built as corpo slop, with suits and accountants saying 'this game will only have XX new armies, new armies will only be allocated XX sprues, your rule book will only be XX pages, X of XX pages must be allocated to Heavy Metal army pics, etc etc.

Yes, they did.
Warhammer fantasy took its shape from the necessity to sell in bulk all their fantasy and historical miniatures they were producing for various other games, all mashed together in a new wargame with a new setting that had all the shit they wanted conveniently arranged.
AoS did the same, except instead of having to work with historical minis and D&D stuff, it had the leftovers of warhammer fantasy.

I agree that aos is corpo as fuck but I disagree with the notion that whfb and 40k were some labour of love and not the exact same, like the other guy pointed out. Fantasy was created so they could keep selling the models they were already producing for various other wargames. Beastmen as a concept exist because citadel happened to already produce broo minis for runequest etc. 40k happened because they wanted to tap into the scifi market. They straight up ripped half their concepts from existing work (chaos being an especially egregious example).
Gw may have refined their corpo tendencies by the time aos came around, but let's not delude ourselves into thinking they were ever anything else.

Prime example being the name changes from whfb to aos (ogors, orruks, ælves etc) and in 40k. I can't speak for the early days but warhammer fans have always liked to complain. When gw was trying to give fantasy its last hurrah (or squeeze the last drop out of it, depending on how you look at it), people grumbled about every new unit added. Now for some this was pretty understandable (skycutter, gyrocopters,...) but irondrakes, demigryphs, anything that wasn't already established got a fair amount of hate. Old good new bad is ironically nothing new.

People always lump them with Hedonites when talking about painting difficulty but it’s not even close how much harder HoS is to paint. Deepkin are harder than LRL, too. I know because I’ve painted stuff from all 3 and collect the latter 2. I will say whoever does the assembly/sprue design for LRL needs a brick to the head. It’s seemingly random and asinine how they split the model up and typically make subassembling them their own challenge.

its pretty rough, i get the feeling nh is being punished for early edition. the ethereal change wouldn't be half bad if there weren't a ton of other nerfs. biggest one aside from that is all the wave of terror stuff is gone, most of those debuffs are now difficult to cast spells with the same casters we have now, so you have a lot of spells cast on a 6 or 7 with realistically 3 spell slots at most and only reikenor for any bonuses to cast, with 18" range. bladegheists lost the +1 attack on charge, no -1 wound for the harridans, awlrach's thing is just once per battle etc

No I know, same goes for Wyldwoods, the new crypts for SBGL, and I think that's it as far as I remember. (Most other terrain is pretty superfluous) but sometimes people wanna save money etc which I understand. I dunno if rogres are needed as much as gnawholes but I figured if he didn't have the models at the moment he has an alternative so things function.

For certain factions the endless spells and invocations are integral to their playstyle. Things like wyldwoods for sylvaneth, gnawholes for skaven, loonshrine for gitz, etc... are an important part of the game for them. Luckily there are lots of stls available for endless spells and faction terrain that closely match the silhouettes of the authentic ones as some of the spells can be quite hard to track down and are frequently sold out. I'm sure someone has also traced the gnawholes and posted it online so you could easily diy them given they're just a crater with some swirly stuff in it

>CHANGEABLE SKIES
>Lord-Magnate Brokk Grungsson flies to the aid of his homeport Barak-Nar when it is threatened by a conspiracy of Tzeentchian change-cults. Led by the Lord of Change known as Ixivillix the Ever-Flux, these old enemies of the Kharadron tear open a portal to the Crystal Labyrinth in the skies above the floating city. Bleeding lurid colours and spewing forth floods of daemons, this rift threatens to engulf Barak-Nar and its main battle fleet. However, Grungsson refuses to go down without a fight. He orders the sky-port's Aether-Khemists to gather all the nullstone they can muster and stow it aboard a single, battle-worn Ironclad. Grungsson himself pilots this vessel right into the heart of the portal, causes a backlash of anti-magic force so potent that the rift is banished, and Barak-Nar is very nearly sent tumbling to its doom. As the sky-port stabilises, a single figure is glimpsed descending from on high: the unkillable Lord-Magnate himself, clutching the frozen head of Ixivillix the Ever-Flux.

I remember
The dark woods, masking slopes of sombre hills;
The grey clouds' leaden everlasting arch;
The dusky streams that flowed without a sound,
And the lone winds that whispered down the passes.

Vista on vista marching, hills on hills,
Slope beyond slope, each dark with sullen trees,
Our gaunt land lay. So when a man climbed up
A rugged peak and gazed, his shaded eye
Saw but the endless vista - hill on hill,
Slope beyond slope, each hooded like its brothers.

It was a gloomy land that seemed to hold
All winds and clouds and dreams that shun the sun,
With bare boughs rattling in the lonesome winds,
And the dark woodlands brooding over all,
Not even lightened by the rare dim sun
Which made squat shadows out of men; they called it
Cimmeria, land of Darkness and deep Night.

It was so long ago and far away
I have forgot the very name men called me.
The axe and flint-tipped spear are like a dream,
And hunts and wars are shadows. I recall
Only the stillness of that sombre land;
The clouds that piled forever on the hills,
The dimness of the everlasting woods.
Cimmeria, land of Darkness and the Night.

Oh, soul of mine, born out of shadowed hills,
To clouds and winds and ghosts that shun the sun,
How many deaths shall serve to break at last
This heritage which wraps me in the grey
Apparel of ghosts? I search my heart and find
Cimmeria, land of Darkness and the Night.

not enough models are wearing the cool armours, too many of them are wearing crop tops or are half naked
only the deepmare has a good design for a deep sea fantasy creature, the eels are plain and almost toothless, the shark is just a shark, and the turtle is an all around weird choice when they could have had a cephalopod or whale of some kind, although it's not too bad in its own way

but more importantly, noone likes the namarti

gw has tried multiple times over the course of its history to make an army where the core troops are some kind of slave underclass that are unlike the people that actually represent the faction, they did it with tyranids back then when they had to make a certain percentage of their army out of zoats, they did it with the old slann when they had to make a certain percentage of their army out of lobotomised humans, and they have made it now with idoneth where you're more or less forced to grab namarti one way or another

it never works, if people want to collect an army of tyranids they want the fucking tyranids, not the zoats, if people want to collect an army of slann they want the fucking slann, not the humans, if people want to collect an army of atlantean elves, they want the fucking elves with crested helmets, not the blind bald freaks

i disagree the namartii are great models, and reavers are even decent in the game.

people dont tend to collect a ton of thralls because they just dont work with the armies game plan and never have. the army is moving 12+ inches a turn as a whole. reavers can skirt around this because they threaten at range and can run and still do their thing. thralls have always been sluggish, but too fragile to be on the recieving end. the lack of thralls in peoples collection is merely a logistics problem, nothing to do with the lore or the aesthetics.

your whole wall of text is pretty off base
>not enough models are wearing the cool armours

the battletomes and core rulebook are where most of the big picture "who the hell are these guys and why should i care" for the setting is.

if you go and just start reading BL novels without reading at least the relevant factions battletome lore, you may be a bit lost on the who, what, and especially the where, as the battletomes and core book spell out things like important cities, realms, and sites of power, as well as the major players on the setting stage.

the campaign books also tell the stories of some of the major events like the soul wars and broken realms, which had major setting altering conflicts and often introduced whole new armies or redefined existing ones like dawnbringers with sigmars new settlers crusades.

There's some idoneth books but they're pretty bad worldbuilding wise, just kind of completely fly in the face of the fluff established in battletomes. Oh, and some of the new gotrek books have an elf companion who's pretty fun, she also has her own books. They're alright iirc.
