So, this little translation note is a bit confusing but I get where they are coming from. Anyway, the thing in this chapter is called 根の首 in Japanese. Furinkan says that this translates to "Root Head". This seems logical given that the creature is clearly made of a bunch of roots. I also will add that 首 can mean neck or nape in Japanese. In context, I think head is better.
But root also means source so the fanscan seems to think that's why it is called that. I don't think that's accurate.
