The Marine book has been getting ever more bloated for nearly a decade now to the point where GW is removing massive swathes of their core units to try and stem the flow. Marines no longer have bikers, jump pack infantry other than veterans, a fast attack vehicle option, or generic characters. All things even the Dark Eldar have. I don't know how you can cleanly separate the problem though without invalidating a whole bunch of peoples' armies; something that, while happened to me, I refuse to let happen for someone else. The only thing I can thing of is splitting the Marine dex into two books but that feels fucking awful. Or the more likely option that marines in general are probably due to be squatted next edition. Thankfully I have other armies but it still sucks.
