They're reality warping shape shifting monsters from beyond the bounds of causality who feast on misfortune and hunt their prey through their unguarded thoughts and wishes. I'm gonna need that shit chapter and verse because I don't buy the average guardian even surviving a meeting with one of them if it was not cordial start to finish. I almost feel like some splinter cell of survivors would make better villains than the nine and they'd have a tangible and even understandable motivation to want to kill guardians with them surviving that genocide.
