That was pretty much how they got Russian equipement in the 90's.

Brazil also got Mi-24 from a deal where they sold them meat. The first option was to buy Pantsirs, but they got helicopters instead that nobody wanted and got dumped into the Air-Force.

And when they actually managed to give it an useful role, the Russians fucked it by not sending them spare parts. So they retired their Mi-24 after just 12 years of operation.

Which sucks because they were actually pretty neat and had their usesfulness in the amazon.
