Not really, the vex are destined to win in a world were the gardener and winnower don't intervine. The fighting in Oryx's thrown world and Saint's (forma heterosexual) crusade buck broke the vex to the point they wanted one of the two factions to whipe the other before doing anything. The destruction of the W*tness should have lead to the full movilization of the vex since from that point onwards the humanity (and other aliens like the cabal) woudn't be distracted fighting the forces of the darkness.
