>have liliana DG and death trigger board out
>put counter #9 on her
>end of turn "Hey just so everyone is aware, Liliana can ult next turn." and remind them of what that means verbatim
>some grumbles of acknowledgment
>player 1, 2, 3 don't attack liliana and just build their boards their turn
>4 does attack but he doesn't have enough creatures to get past my death touch blockers
>my turn: "Okay well, I'm going to use Liliana's ultimate. Anyone able to do anything? Lightning bolt, anything?"
>no one can
>tell table they now have to sacrifice every kind of permanent except one and-
>before I can finish talking everyone except player 4: "WTF ALL PERMANENTS?! ENCHANTMENTS AND ARTIFACTS TOO?!"
>explain yes all permanents, even lands but -
>"WTF EVEN LANDS TOO?! WE DIDN'T KNOW THAT!"
>tell them yes, even lands, but finally am able to say that it won't matter since unless they can all keep their creatures alive I'll ping them all to death with my various death triggers
>"WTF bro you didn't explain it was all permanents we just thought creatures! And you didn't say you were going to win if we didn't kill that thing!"
Not the first time it's happened with my group where I explain a big threat with the clear implication it should be focused. I don't know how to explain more clearly that I am potentially going to win next turn short of drawing them a diagram.
