>1-4 minute sketches sounds fucking INSANE to me, I seriously don’t think I could produce anything in that length of time, are these exercises you started doing only once you got a good grasp of the fundamentals?
dont be too intimidated. first of all, that exercise causes one to draw faster, second, i dont draw a full figure in that time - only part of the body, third, the goal is not to produce a clean finished drawing but rather be *forced* into evaluating the reference and make decisions on what is important/unimportant, fourth, since you draw the *same* reference over and over, you actually *do* get a lot done by the later time-intervals just from getting used to that specific pose / body part
think of it like trying to deadlift a multiple-ton-weighing-truck. you will never actually succeed in lifting it, but getting into position, grabbing its bumper and then flexing your muscles in a way that *would* result in lifting the car --- that is what is "training" your muscles. sure the sketches themselves sometimes turn out pretty, but it is quite literally about the journey
>give me a 5-minute prompt on anything and I’ll do away with my pride and demonstrate how inept and absent of any ability to think abstractly I really am, I promise I’m far less able (and certainly less “talented”) than you seem to think…
5 hour homework assignment you say?
okay, find 3 fotos that you like each of
>whales (a single whale in a nice flowy pose, a shark is acceptable too, fish only if its body is large and floppy enough to have an intersting "bend" in them)
>flowers (large, close-up-ish shot of one-or-two flower "heads"... not a whole fucking bouquet of flowers)
>bird (look up "secretary bird" and when you stopped masturbating to those beautiful milf creaturs, find nice sexy close ups of their faces with their "fuck me right now" eyes)
