Why would anyone care about the savagery of the White Army when the Bolsheviks were using chemical weapons on peasants and shooting striking workers? The peasants were doing poorly because Lenin was doing that, along forced conscription and stealing food. Plus, hanging for having food and not giving it to the red army. The whites had food because the Bolsheviks couldn't take from well-armed, military personal. They had to rob the poor to fund their bandit army.
