Because the university system has been turned into a tool of indoctrination by left wing political movements and people who go to university tend to conform to what they're taught.

There's no correlation to left wing beliefs there's correlation to what the universities teach. If the universities taught them to be conservative they'd be conservative. Correlation is not causation.
