>>508431612 (OP)Its true, its a bit more complicated, and I will tell you why.
Those with higher IQ tend to be more distant from mainstream politics. They also tend to have lesser morals. To them politics is for the stupid, morality is for the ignorant. Its all just a means to improve their social and financial position. But they never admit to that, for them life is about getting the best deal you can and surviving.
The prime question for them is this: "How do I present myself so as to afford me the most opportunities, the best rewards, and the greatest survival value?"
What will get them the high paying jobs?
How best to attract breeding partners?
Which in-group will defend them best against others?
What position is less likely to be attacked?
So they go with the flow, and whatever is the prevailing ideology of the masses is what they will openly agree with although privately they hold zero or even a different opinion.
Corporations are a good real example of this mentality in action. "Is it profitable? Yes? Then that's what we think. Have the political winds changed? Yes? Then we change accordingly."
These higher IQ people are smart, but smart in an entirely selfish way. If tomorrow it became fashionable to identify with the right wing then they would be the first to abandon their previous views in favor of being right wing. They aren't that big a percentage of the population, perhaps 10%, but their higher IQ is enough to skew the IQ of whatever group they currently align with upwards. If you had polled Franco's Spain in the 1960's ( one of the last Fascist European states ) you would have found that that "Higher intelligence is correlated with Right Wing beliefs"
Its all just a big bullshit game played by smart people.
