I don't want anybody to be replaced; I just want artists and animators to stop sticking their heads in the sand and pretending like an entire branch of computer science is going to fucking disappear if they just don't acknowledge it. I want them actively contributing to the discussion and development of these tools because I think that this technology has *infinitely* more potential if developers start designing them around highly-specialized applications that still require creative ability, input, and refinement instead of trying to make more half-assed all-purpose, zero-effort slop generators.
The technology isn't going away - it can't be ignored, it can't be boycotted, and it won't be locked away by legislation. Artists and animators can choose to actively shape how new technology is adapted and incorporated, or they can accept letting others decide it for them; but they can't abdicate taking part in the process and still expect a say in what happens.
