I mean, there's already a Discworld MUD that's pretty good and well-populated (for a MUD, anyway, which means 100 players tops). The writing obviously isn't as good as Pratchett's, but it'll get some chuckles out of you and it's all from people who clearly love the setting. It's worth checking out even if only to walk around Ankh-Morpork for a little bit; the city is fucking huge and there's handwritten content for pretty much anything you can think of.
