I remember playing discworld 2 as a kid and got stuck near the beginning.
I found out years later that there was a whole segment to the right of the screen in the graveyard

So far she's been pretty good at preserving her father's work, she doesn't whore it out to basically anyone like the Tolkien estate does. The only exception is that godawful City Watch live action series, and IIRC she had no control over that one because the original deal for that was made when Terry was still alive and she considers it to be a travesty.

Writing is what she is bad at.
She worked in Mirrors Edge, Tomb Raider and a bunch of no name games then quit after everyone hated her writing and went back to live from her inheritance
As much as I'd love to see something like this happen, as I believe it'd be amazing in videogame format with right approach, there's no way in hell anyone can pull it off these days, the modern gayming sphere just doesn't have the humor or creativity.
Personally I would like an ankh morpork city simululator crpg, maybe the general goal of the game is to become patrician, and you have free choice of which guild you rise through the ranks of

I mean, there's already a Discworld MUD that's pretty good and well-populated (for a MUD, anyway, which means 100 players tops). The writing obviously isn't as good as Pratchett's, but it'll get some chuckles out of you and it's all from people who clearly love the setting. It's worth checking out even if only to walk around Ankh-Morpork for a little bit; the city is fucking huge and there's handwritten content for pretty much anything you can think of.

Only if it had been written (or at least overseen by Pratchett)
The only possible way a Disc world game might work now is if they adapt/cannibalise one or more of the books for the plot and jokes. I wouldn't trust anyone else to come up with an original Pratchettian story.

Yeah, Discworld MUD is pretty insane.
It's easily the most detailed mud ever made. It's gigantic and every one of those rooms, pretty much every single thing in it can be further examined.
And AM is just one city. Admittedly the biggest, but that MUD has several.
Game is grindy as all hell, though.

It's name only and shits on really great book. They had to do nothing at all but instead they did everything possible wrong, like you can watch it but only with friends and drunk.
Here is a list of the people currently playing Discworld:
AlbertRoss, Amaranth, Anastazja, Beska, Chaos, cheeky, Ebenezer, Eiden,
Fiachra, Gerethwy, Gilrad, Gloey, Grettiur, Issaru, Kly, Knero, Lachrymose,
Lanfear, Lilin, Llia, Marya, Mauve, Migael, Mirodar, Mirrour, Ochrion, Quow,
Ren, Sato, Sauldin, Sojan, Umiven, Wigglefigs, Wynder, Zube

Could it be that they made it shitty on purpose so you could only enjoy it if you were in the headspace of the characters, thus creating a direct connection with the audience members and giving the series a Spy Kids-esque creative gimmick?

Same. There's a lot of random old MUDs I'd love to revisit but can't because they're just fucking dead now. Hell, Wayfar 1444 was up for a while last year and I played it for a bit before I realized "oh, these mechanics are only fun if other people are playing, I'm literally the only user and this game is never going to be active again". I get it, though -- people who just want to grind would rather grind in graphical MMOs that get frequent content updates, people who just want to read would rather read actual books, and people who just want to roleplay are generally unhinged freaks who end up contained in Sindome or Armageddon.

Discworld Noir was done without Terry's input, and it was good. They fucked up Vimes, but the test was solid and faithfull to the books. Different times though, and it was linear point&clock.

I wish I wasn't born too late to miss the glory days of MUDs, but I've still had lots of good time with them (taking recommendations if anyone has any!) It's sometimes an eerie vibe exploring the dead ones, though; it's like being the only one left behind at the Rapture, wandering through these perfectly preserved worlds where everything is the same except everyone is gone. >>713509371
