there's good ideas there the levels are just shit, MGS4 was 80% just to kill the series off once and for all so no one in Konami could ruin it and 20% the devs just fucking around and having fun. From an engine point of view MGS4 walked so MGSV could run. Then Konami shit the bed and a ton of potential for FOX engine games went down the drain with all of that.
The only question in my mind remains now is can Konami do a half way decent MGS3 with a view to doing MG and MG2 remakes on the FOX engine. If the MGS3 remake is dogshit it'll be a very very sad end for the FOX engine, which considering MGSV there was massive potential there that got squandered thanks to corpo bottom lines.
MGSV probably would've been one of the goats if they'd just let them finish it. It was so unfinished that they had an entire set of bionic gauntlet flavours to work into the game that they just never got around to.
