>My headcanon is that only applies to non-divine beings. What do you think?
Now that I think about it none of the rules of the 4 worlds are known, so a lot could be explained by that. According to メルギトス in the bad ending, demons (and angels, I assume) are immortal in サプレス, and if they're immortal there's no need for anyone to give birth. So アメル sort of "regrowing" instead of reincarnating via rebirth kind of makes sense. Maybe they constantly regenerate with サプレス energy (or whatever you want to call it) and only become mortal when cut off from it. Though that still begs the question why アメル could be raised as a totally normal human child. Can food/drink supplement a lack of サプレス energy? Do angels and demons also need food to survive? What is their tax policy?? (At this point, I may be overthinking it.)

>you might get a little more enjoyment out of the gaiden part if you read 帰るべき場所へ first
I figured I've already been spoiled like nuts on that with Minis's night conversations and interactions with ケルマ in the main game, so I don't think it makes much difference now. But as some guy from somewhere at sometime said, "it's about the journey, not the destination." So I think I'll enjoy the book even knowing the basic plot points.
Nearly done now.
