I tried really hard to get into D&D's main setting forgotten realms but for whatever reason it never clicked with me. I just can't stand this super bland style of fantasy. I read the first 8 Drizzt books, played the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games, but still forgotten realms is just fucking awful and always has been.
The world building is just amateurish and completely uninspired. I'll take literally any setting over forgotten realms. Give me Dragonlance, Ravenloft, or Greyhawk. Hell, I'll even take Pathfinder over Forgotten Realms and Pathfinder is blatant copy of Forgotten Realms because for some reason even when they copied it they managed to inject more life into it than the original had. FR is the definition of soulless slop trash tier fantasy.
