One thing I realized throughout my life was that before Christianity, the world was full of canibalism, torture, war, slavery, grotesque sadism, sexual abuse, rape, genocide, human sacrifice, etc. Christianity was such a paradigm shift in the collective consciousness that it brought forth things and "rights" that today we take from granted as obligatory and common things and practices.
It wasn't like that, the whole wise and noble ancient people is a history revisionism thing meant to downgrade the sheer moral superiority of Christianity.
Things like love your brother and don't kill your parents and pray for your enemies and love your wife snd follow your husband and all men being equal under God were seen as wild tales, downright insanity. They quite literally and unironically killed the man for saying such things.
