One of my ideas, if I can ever get around to making games, is a sort of Space Truckin. Some blend of economy and transport as has been done in existing space games with pacing more like a Truck Simulator and focusing on operations. Player plots trade routes, manages their cargo (load balancing, environment control, etc), maintains/upgrades their ship (including getting out of the cockpit and dealing with problems that arise). plots actual courses (some amount of orbital dynamic type stuff but also hyperspace tradelanes or jump gates or whatever the fuck), has to manually navigate traffic and docking, etc. And keep it low tech and grungy.
