Id personally forego the digital crap and focus drawing traditionally. Shit like thinking what brushes are good and focusing on different styles Ive found are just distractions. Just simple paper and pencil that lets you focus on stuff that actually matters like proportion, composition, character interaction is the stuff that really matters. Like look at most mangas and how stripped down they are and only focus on the elements that really matter for storytelling, rendering is a meme.
Also for my money in terms of your progress this pic is misleading cause right just looks like a basic ref sheet, and for that purpose its fine, it works. If you want to imrove more though you gotta do shit like what you did on the left, more pieces that tell a story. The more interesting story moments you come up with in your head the more it can influence your decisions on composition, background elements, use of different angles. Id say your at a point that whatever your actual goal is for making art, you should go for it. I dont know if you wanna do comics or small character pieces like pic related but you shouldnt be waiting for permission, you are only gonna get better by pushing yourself with what ya got
