AM is irrational in his own right, he is so wrathful he wiped out almost all of humanity and the few that remained were used to torture until the end of time, I think part of his hate comes from jealousy towards humanity and him being unable to alter himself beyond being a machine so making the same wish as Angela might make sense for him.
