It truly is. The only thing dragging DMC5 down is the fact that the game only accounts for playing as Dante for 25% of the campaign.

A sloppy fix, you can still tell you're playing Nero or V levels. Not to mention console-friends deserve better.
That's why I'll still hold DMC3 as king, because despite its annoyances and short comings, it's 100% designed around the best playable character of the game, there's no compromises or cope characters, just stylish action. And you can enjoy playing through the whole or most of the campaign rather than playing exclusively in the void or BP.
This is something that DMC6 could fix, but alas, without Itsuno it's a coin toss whether they'll want to "deconstruct" the franchise, put it on demake hell or actually allow it to move forward.
