I noticed watching this movie the preponderance of ethnic minorities, even back then the seeds of Chicago's demise were curdling under the surface, but boomers were in their 20s and Reagan was president, perhaps it felt like things could get wholesome again, that black people were equal, and there was no need to return to the old ways.
